Become A Partner In Your Own Recovery

Assessment & Referrals

A thorough and comprehensive assessment that incorporates biological, psychological, and social aspects is integral to the development of a holistic treatment plan suited to your specific needs. Upon completion of your evaluation, you will be provided with a review of the treatment options that are available such as: individual and group outpatient therapy at our GreeneStone Aftercare & Outpatient Services location, medically-assisted detoxification and/or inpatient treatment at our scenic GreeneStone Muskoka location, or referrals to evidence-based treatment centers throughout Canada and the world.

Aftercare Program

The return to everyday life can often be a difficult transition. Our goal is to provide you with the tools you need to make a seamless passage back to your home, family, and workplace. GreeneStone offers individual, couples, family, and group counselling services for those who have completed a residential treatment program or intensive outpatient program and wish to enhance their plan for the future. The opportunity to discuss, on a one-on-one basis, underlying root issues that continue to arise in the recovery process, and the encouragement and support of peers within a group context are valuable tools in the maintenance of any recovery plan.

Youth Services

We understand that the adolescent and teen years are a particularly sensitive developmental period which is why we have tailored a program that speaks to their unique needs. Our youth program offers therapy and education directed at teens and young adults who are struggling with substance use issues themselves or who have been affected by the addictive behaviours of a family member or loved one. Early intervention and education can give your child the tools needed to make healthy decisions that will last a lifetime.

Intensive Family Programs

Family members, friends, and loved ones are provided with the opportunity to learn about addiction and recovery, and to discuss the specific ways in which it has impacted their lives. Experienced Addiction Therapists facilitate interactive, psycho-educational workshops that discuss the science behind the development of addiction, ways that this disease can be successfully treated, and how to heal impacted relationships through education, counselling, and support.

Intervention Services

For many families, intervention is a last resort when they feel that they have done everything within their power to help their loved one and have reached a breaking point. Family and friends will meet with an Intervention Specialist to form a united team who will then work to gain insight into the nature of addictions, identify their potential roles in the enabling process, and learn how to present their loved one with a clear picture of the harms caused by their behaviour in a firm and organized, yet loving and non-judgmental manner. The goal is to convey a strong message to the individual that the harms caused by their addiction will no longer be tolerated or ignored, but also to communicate that this act of love is meant to support him or her in seeking immediate treatment at a pre-arranged facility.

Intensive Out-patient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Out-Patient Program offers education and therapy to treat the whole person – not just the substance using behaviour. At GreeneStone, we understand that in-patient treatment is not appropriate or practical for everyone suffering from addictions, which is why we have designed our out-patient program to meet the needs of those individuals who wish to participate in intensive addiction therapy, while continuing to maintain their day-to-day lives.

The program incorporates both individual and group therapy sessions, over a period of three months, and is facilitated by experienced, empathetic professionals. Since individuals who suffer from addictions often require immediate treatment, admission into this program
operates on continuous basis.

The two modes of group sessions included in the IOP are psycho-educational and therapeutic process. Psycho-educational sessions are holistic in nature and are facilitated by Certified Addiction Therapists, a Registered Dietician and a Stress-Management Therapist. They focus on coping skill development, identification of triggers and high-risk situations, rebuilding relationships, enhancing self-esteem, relapse prevention training, dietary counselling, educating individuals on the impact of substance abuse on brain chemistry, as well as learning to managing emotions such as depression, anger and anxiety. Therapeutic process groups offers individuals the opportunity to explore underlying issues associated with their addiction and gain the insight, encouragement and empowerment to move forward in their recovery.

Individual therapy sessions are incorporated into the program and are tailored to meet the unique needs of each person participating. They are facilitated by Certified Addiction Therapists and utilize several evidence-based practices including; Motivational Interviewing (MI),
Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Training.

The Fresh Start Program

The Fresh Start Program has been designed for those individuals who are motivated to work towards abstinence from substance use for the first time, or to get back on track following a relapse. The group offers guidance, support and specialized education for its participants while utilizing a non-judgmental, person centred, empowering approach. Each participant will have the opportunity to discuss their substance use and related issues at their own comfort level, while gaining the knowledge, insight and experience needed to achieve their individual goals and move forward into recovery.
